Story telling stop motion- panspermia
|
This is a short story made by Arushi Gupta on panspermia. Panspermia - a theory about the origin of life on earth. The video is a way to show how organisms compete, dominate, camouflage and grow. It further introduces the way organisms need each other to exist in this environment and grow. How they can't live alone but need companions.

Co-existing time
Change is as inevitable as time allows it to be , or is it the other way around ? Is it change that capacitates the even flow that time boasts of ? Is time , a structure , an active and efficient component of a fundamental ideology a facet of change ?
All theses questions , keep piling up ,taking much space of the inquisitive one’s head . Change and time have forever been an integral part of everybody’s life , however they maybe perceived over the multitudes of cultures that exist . A change in age , change in space , change in personality, change in morality , are all few changes that seem to be profoundly evident through out a person’s life . But we also see that it is mostly being brought about by the omnipresence of time and this works the other way around too , seeing change as a catalyst in time . And At different junctures of life we have seemed to submit completely , to these dominant powers and we seem to collect a lot many inferences from these experiences which help avoid future unpleasant confrontations .
The art piece which presents itself as a single wheel held by forks , is far from what it was supposed to be used as from Neanderthal times . It maintains a safe distance from the ground along whose caress does it come into ‘use’. Untamed , it hangs in the air , being spun by the gentle breeze that moves swiftly between it’s spokes , spinning on it’s own accord. This unrest , which it embraces seems to bring it to use in a manner very different from what was at the time of it’s conception . The tire is left free to assume and presume any stance and keep spinning without even coming in contact with the ground. This change in its placement, shape and use , casts a shadow on the ground almost as a sun dial .So bringing change in a direct equation with time . As the difference in the shadow that is cast is monitored by the slow , it helps question the saying that ‘time flies by ‘ . The change in the shadow that stretches from noon to evening and beyond is much slower than the wheel held on the forks
, that keeps spinning regardless . So change in itself surpasses our assumption of time , taunting it’s might by the changes in speed and position in the wheel.
This piece presents a conflict in the very way we pass our lives and the meaning we award experiences and instances. It show two conflicting entities co-existing on a relationship that seems to be interdependent . How far is it that these two lie apart in meaning and understanding ? If they can share a place so close , then could they somehow be the same entity ? Have we fundamentally been looking for and at a wrong place for meaning ?

We are responsible for how we shape our identity...
How do you shape your identity?
Either you build yourself with your experiences or others experience. Its your memories or inspirations that make you who you are. Take for eg. Osama Bin Laden, he suffered a lot when was young, and became what he experienced. Nothing is right or wrong when it comes to what you want, you to be. Its as fluid as water, as nebulous as flow of water and as formless as the uncertainties we live in.
The coloured buckets showed different characteristics we collect in our lives. The water was not coloured because when we take the water from the buckets it never shows on our face what coloured person are we transforming into. What we want to become is in our hands and it is our responsibility to take appropriate amount of water from the bucket we pass by.
This exercise was a part of performance art. It was a new experience which I felt need courage and willpower. No doubt we had fun and we got a really good response from the audience. It was a simple performance but had a powerful impact on others. At least it provoked this question in the audience, "why the hell were we taking a bath in the basement?".

POP ART
Andy Warhol is probably the best know American Pop Artist, and his images of every day objects and his numerous reproductions of Marilyn Monroe. Inspired from his work we made a 3D form of pop art. As these days flappy birds is a very famous aneroid game, we chose flappy birds.
Concept note - "Installing 3D pop art".
My understanding and learning in making the installation was an eye- opening experience. This was a group project and no one in the group appreciated or agreed to my idea, which was to project the flappy birds on the screen, using balloons to make it into a 3D form. However, I've learned that when people sometimes don't recognise your work, I think it becomes your own responsibility to portray your ideas and make them aware of your potential. The installation received a positive response from the audience.

Installation of money
The installation is the final outcome of a liberal arts course “Installation Art”. The initial idea of this installation was to create a space that is deep inside our minds, a space that thinks about money and is filled with a lot of money. We used the class so as to add an element to our installation, although we study in an institution, deep inside it’s all about how much money we are going to earn after our studies.
Our installation's concept was to cover up the walls of our classroom at Srishti school of Art, Design and Technology using 1000-denomination Indian Rupee notes. We ended up using about 2000 A4 sheets consisting of 3 notes each. It took up 2 days to install our artwork.
We believe that now-a-days, although students try their best in college but still they tend to fantasize about the money. Students tend to strive towards satiating their appetite of money. Money drives the youngsters towards giving their best at academic institutions. Although I don't blame anyone for such psychology, but I feel bothered when the thin line between 'desire' and 'dependency' becomes all the more thinner.
However, after completing the installation, the whole view was changed, the room created a very shallow atmosphere. Even the perspective and meaning was changed. So now, we think it’s a place created and left open for people’s perception or thinking that is there after looking at so much experience in a small space.
